In a statement issued today, Monday, 9/10/2023, regarding the events that the world is awaiting regarding the crisis in Palestine, it calls on the two parties to sit at the dialogue table as it is the best solution to end the crisis.
For her part, Joan Abu Hantash, Deputy Secretary-General of the Norwegian Council for Tolerance and Peace, stressed the need for restraint between the parties to the conflict in the occupied territories.
Joa'an Abu Hantash expressed her rejection of American military support for the Israeli army to confront the small city of Gaza, which is bordered by Palestine, and considered that this support would complicate matters in the region and ignite the fuse of crisis and stability in the region.
Joa'an Abu Hantash also noted that the Oslo Agreement, which is the first official agreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization, stipulates “an end to decades of confrontation and conflict, and the recognition of their mutual legitimate and political rights.” It included several items related to the structure and composition of the Palestinian Authority, the establishment of a Palestinian transitional self-governing authority, and other items.
Which the Palestinians reluctantly agreed to, was not implemented and was ignored by the entity.
On September 13, 1993, the Palestine Liberation Organization signed the agreement, which was officially called the “Palestinian-Israeli Declaration of Principles...Oslo,” on the lawn of the White House in Washington.
Abu Hantash said that sitting at the dialogue table is the peaceful solution to get out of this crisis, and the Norwegian Council for Tolerance and Peace has renewed its call to the United Nations and the State Security Council to assume its international responsibilities towards ending the conflict once and for all and confronting the challenges that are plaguing the peace process in the region.
